fix(build): stop forcing a relink on every incremental build - #529
Every incremental build relinks the app, even with no changes: nativescript-pre-build and the metadata generator rewrite metadata files that are also inputs of the link step (-sectcreate), so their new timestamps invalidate it. The strip script also runs on simulator builds, which never ship.
What is the new behavior?
The pre-build step never touches existing metadata files.
The metadata generator only replaces a file when its content changed.
The strip script skips simulator builds and only processes Mach-O binaries.
Pre-build touches the metadata files when the hash of whitelist.mdg and blacklist.mdg changes, because the generator only runs during linking and Xcode would otherwise skip it.
Applied to both the iOS and visionOS templates.
Testing
Run end to end on an iPad Pro simulator and an iPad on iPadOS 26.7, together with the CLI stack below. The visionOS template has the same change but was not run.
Filter changes on a simulator: with no changes, no link; adding a whitelist relinks and shrinks the metadata from 11.2 MB to 481 KB; removing it restores it. The build after a filter change links once more, then settles.
Improved iOS and visionOS build handling by skipping framework architecture processing for simulator builds and avoiding failures on files that cannot be inspected.
Preserved existing generated build settings and metadata when their contents do not change, helping prevent unnecessary build updates.
Updated generated architecture binaries only when their contents differ from the existing versions.
Limited architecture processing to framework binaries and standalone dynamic libraries.
Refreshed architecture metadata when whitelist or blacklist contents change.
The metadata files are link inputs, so pre-build and the metadata generator now leave them alone unless their content changed. The strip script skips simulator builds, whose extra architectures never ship.
The metadata generator and both pre-build scripts avoid replacing unchanged files. The pre-build scripts update architecture metadata when filter-file hashes change. The iOS and vision framework scripts exit for simulator builds and use narrower binary selection.
The metadata generator writes to a temporary binary and replaces the output only when contents differ. Both pre-build scripts replace the environment file only when its contents differ and create architecture metadata files only when absent. When filter-file hashes change, they touch metadata files for valid architectures and update the saved hash.
Process framework architectures project-template-ios/internal/strip-dynamic-framework-architectures.sh, project-template-vision/internal/strip-dynamic-framework-architectures.sh
Both scripts exit for simulator builds. They process framework main binaries and loose dylibs, and skip files when lipo -archs fails.
Builds can retain metadata generated with outdated filters after hashing or invalidation failures, potentially leaving APIs unavailable at runtime. These safeguards should be fixed before merging.

Metadata is generated during linking, and existing metadata files no longer get new timestamps on every build, so Xcode skipped the link when only whitelist.mdg or blacklist.mdg changed and the app kept the previous metadata. Pre-build now touches the metadata files when the filters' hash changes.

Apply the framework suffix to basename in both strip scripts.
For TNSWidgets.framework/TNSWidgets, the current guard evaluates as a non-main framework file and runs continue. The post-build step therefore does not remove architectures that are absent from VALID_ARCHS from the framework executable. The device product can retain an invalid architecture slice.

Correct the framework main-binary comparison in the file loop’s guard: apply the
.framework suffix when taking the basename of the framework directory, not as an
argument to dirname. Make the same correction in both
strip-dynamic-framework-architectures.sh scripts so a binary named after its
framework reaches the architecture-stripping step.

Check every metadata touch before recording the filter hash.
Both pre-build scripts ignore touch failures. If a metadata file is not writable, printf still writes the new hash to metadata-filters.stamp. The next build sees the same hash and skips the touch, so the stale metadata file remains. The linker may then use stale metadata for that architecture.
Only write metadata-filters.stamp after all metadata touches succeed. Apply this correction in both templates.
