Fix author mapping file creation failing with DivisionByZeroError - #112
wp import <file> --authors=<new file>.csv should write a mapping file with suggested users and stop. It fails with a DivisionByZeroError instead.
Since #94 the $blog_users property has an empty array as default value. suggest_user() loads the site users only when ! isset( $this->blog_users ), so the users were never loaded and the average check at the end divided by zero.
This PR:
declares $blog_users without a default value, so the users are loaded on first use again
skips the average check when no distances were collected. This also happens when the first site user is an exact login match, because the loop breaks before it adds anything to $shortestavg.
adds a Behat scenario that creates the mapping file and then imports with it
OS: Linux (Docker container on WSL2, kernel 6.18.33.2)
Web Server: n/a (command line test)
PHP: 8.5.9
WordPress: 7.2-beta1-64691 (nightly)
Database: MariaDB 11.8.9
WP-CLI: wp-cli/wp-cli main (a1735b03), import-command main (60399a0) with this PR
Browser: n/a (command line test)
Theme: Ipsum 1.0 (default theme of the nightly)
Active Plugins:
WordPress Importer 0.9.7
Steps to Reproduce
wp plugin install wordpress-importer --activate
wp export --filename_format=export.xml
wp import export.xml --authors=mapping.csv (the file must not exist yet)
🐞 Bug occurs: Fatal error: Uncaught DivisionByZeroError: Division by zero in .../src/Import_Command.php:732, exit code 1, and mapping.csv is left empty. Running the command again then imports without any mapping.
Expected Results
✅ The command stops with Error: Please update author mapping file before continuing: mapping.csv and exit code 1.
✅ mapping.csv contains the header row and one row per author, for example admin, admin.
✅ Running the same wp import command again imports the posts with that mapping.
With this PR on the same site (run from the import-command checkout):
The new scenario exports posts by admin and jdoe, changes both email addresses so the users have to be matched by login, and runs wp import --authors=mapping.csv twice. Behat ran with WP_VERSION=nightly, PHP 8.5.9 and MariaDB 11.8.9.

1 scenario (1 failed)
22 steps (13 passed, 1 failed, 8 skipped)
Both changes are needed. With only the property change, the scenario still fails with DivisionByZeroError (the first site user, admin, is an exact login match). With only the average check, mapping.csv contains admin, and jdoe, without suggestions.
Full features/import.feature with this PR: 16 scenarios (16 passed), 265 steps (265 passed).
composer phpcs -- src/Import_Command.php and composer phpstan report no errors. The Gherkin linter (gherkin-lint-plus 1.0.2 with the wp-cli-tests config) passes on features/import.feature.

New Features
Imports now provide an author-mapping file when imported authors don’t match current site users, making it easier to assign posts to the correct accounts.
Bug Fixes
Improved author matching when there are no similarity results, preventing errors during import.
When `--authors` points to a CSV file that does not exist yet,
suggest_user() is used to fill in suggested users. Since the
$blog_users property got an empty array as default value, the
isset() check in suggest_user() is always true, so the site users
were never loaded and the average check divided by zero.
Load the users again on first use, and skip the average check when
no distances were collected, which also happens when the first user
is an exact login match.

Here are some useful Composer commands to get you started:
To run a single Behat test, you can use the following command:
# Run all tests in a single file
composer behat features/some-feature.feature
# Run only a specific scenario (where 123 is the line number of the "Scenario:" title)
composer behat features/some-feature.feature:123
You can find a list of all available Behat steps in our handbook.
The import command now initializes its site-user cache lazily and skips average-distance comparison when no candidate distances exist. An integration scenario covers generating an author mapping CSV, retrying the import with the mapping, and checking the imported post list.

Author suggestions and mapping workflow src/Import_Command.php, features/import.feature
The site-user cache starts unset, and the average-distance comparison runs only when candidate distances exist. The scenario checks mapping-file creation, import retry, and the imported post list.
The mapping workflow appears mergeable, but asserting the admin post’s author would better protect the new regression test.

Explanation
The title names the main change: fixing a DivisionByZeroError that stopped the author mapping file from being created during import. The changeset matches this. It guards the average-distance calculation in Import_Command.php when $shortestavg is empty, and it changes $blog_users to load site users on first use. The title is concise, specific, and free of file lists or vague wording.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #111 requires a generated author mapping file, a suggestion for each author, a stop before import, and a successful import after the mapping file is supplied. The PR leaves $blog_users unset until suggest_user() loads site users. It skips the average-distance calculation when $shortestavg is empty. The added Behat scenario verifies the header, admin, admin, and jdoe, jdoe rows, the stop, and the subsequent successful import.

The fixture maps both admin and jdoe, but the retry checks only the jdoe post. A regression that ignores the admin mapping can therefore pass. Add an assertion for user 1.
