Fixes #356.

Two new scenarios cover both, and fail without these changes: a URL ending in .php that serves an archive must not leave a .php file behind, and a symlink placed at the archive's path must not lead to its target being overwritten, for a fresh download as well as one from the cache. The symlink scenario does not run on Windows.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Core downloads now save archives with an appropriate archive filename, even when the source URL ends in .php.
    • Downloads replace a destination symlink without modifying the file or directory it points to, including when using a cached archive.
    • Archives are saved more safely, reducing the chance of leaving a partial file behind if copying or saving fails.

An archive downloaded from a URL was named after the URL since #355, which
let whoever provides the URL choose the name and type of a file written
into the target directory. Keep the random name of the temporary file for
these again, with the extension detected from the archive.

Save the archive by writing a new file with a random name next to its
destination and moving it into place, so that a symlink at the destination
is replaced instead of written through.

Walkthrough

Core downloads without extraction now save cached and downloaded archives through a temporary file that is renamed into place. URL downloads use the temporary download file to determine the destination name. New scenarios cover URL archive naming and symlink replacement.

Changes: Safe core archive downloads

Layer / File(s) Summary
Write archives through temporary files
src/Core_Command.php
A new helper copies an archive to an exclusively created temporary file beside the destination, then renames it into place. It removes the partial file and reports an error if opening, copying, or renaming fails.
Use safe saves for cached and downloaded archives
src/Core_Command.php, features/core-download.feature
Cached and downloaded archives without extraction use the helper. URL downloads derive the destination name from the temporary download file; release archive naming is unchanged. Scenarios cover a URL ending in .php and symlink replacement for fresh and cached downloads.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

The PR addresses both coding requirements in issue #356. For URL downloads, Core_Command::download() detects zip or tar.gz from the downloaded content and uses the temporary random filename instead of the URL basename. Release downloads retain the fixed release name. For cached and fresh archives, both paths call save_archive, which writes a uniquely named file in the destination directory and moves it into place. The added scenarios cover the .php URL case and symlink replacement, including cached downloads where applicable.

Explanation

The reviewed changes are limited to safe archive naming, safe archive replacement, and feature scenarios for these behaviors. The implementation and tests directly support issue #356. No unrelated change is established by the supplied PR evidence.

Add a negative check for the URL basename to the directory assertion.

The .zip check is a substring match, so an archive named payload.php.zip satisfies it. If the archive were named after the URL, the file-absence check and the .zip check would both still pass. A should not contain check for payload.php closes this gap. The current code names the archive from a random temporary name, so the new check passes.

that `{RUN_DIR}` does not contain `payload.php`; keep the existing archive and
