v4.5.0Compare Source
fix(color-support): prevent colors in piped or redirected output when
COLORTERMis set, #54.Before:
Ansis used to check
COLORTERMbefore checking stdout.Apps can inherit
COLORTERMfrom the parent terminal even when stdout goes to a pipe or file.This could add ANSI codes to that output.
After: Ansis now checks the output environment first.
COLORTERMonly helps choose the color level when color output is enabled.Color output in supported non-TTY environments such as CI, PM2, and Next.js edge still works.
Auto-detection behavior changes after the fix
COLORTERM=truecolorCOLORTERM=truecolorCOLORTERM=truecolorTo explicitly enable colors in non-TTY environments, use
FORCE_COLOR.fix(color-support): detect the color level for
FORCE_COLOR=trueand--colorin non-TTY output.Before:
With
FORCE_COLOR=trueor--color, Ansis ignored Windows andTERMfor a pipe or file.Without
COLORTERM, it used 16 colors, even on Windows or withTERM=xterm-256color.After: Ansis uses Windows and
TERMfor any output when colors are enabled this way.FORCE_COLOR=trueor--color, pipe or file, WindowsFORCE_COLOR=trueor--color, pipe or file,TERM=xterm-256colorFORCE_COLOR=trueor--color, pipe or file,COLORTERM=truecolorFORCE_COLOR=1,2and3set the level directly. They work as before.Configuration
