From d42750784e2b38eaa873fae722934ad90e1dad62 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Savio Dias Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2026 12:27:16 +0530 Subject: [PATCH 1/5] feat(kiro): add BrowserStack Kiro power with product-named skills Adds integrations/kiro-power, an Agent Plugins package for Kiro's Powers directory: plugin.json (product-approved activation keywords), mcp.json pointing at the hosted Streamable HTTP server, and one skill per BrowserStack product: live, app-live, automate, app-automate, accessibility, test-management, test-reporting-analytics, plus a hub skill that routes by the user's phrasing. Automate, App Automate, Live, App Live and Accessibility skills were validated against the hosted server on real builds; each carries a "validated behaviour" section. Test Management and TRA skills drive the capability registry and ship the docs workflow tables as references. Each row has the test id, session id, a one-line error, and flags for flaky, always-failing and new failure. Read the flags first: a new failure is a regression, an always-failing test is debt, a flaky one needs stabilising. + +### Step 2: Root cause first + +`fetchRCA` with up to three numeric test ids. It returns the cause in one sentence, a failure type (AUTOMATION_BUG, PRODUCT_BUG, ENVIRONMENT), the log evidence, an evidence strength, and a suggested fix marked as a proposal. Writes return a permission request on the first call; put it to the user and resend with `user_permission: "granted"` and a one-line `change_summary` only after they say yes. Deletes are refused by the server; archive instead, and only on request. + +## Step 0: Product routing + +Call `listProducts` with the user's request as `query` once per task. "Project", "test run" and "report" exist in Test Management, Test Reporting and Load Testing, and the registry refuses to search while the product is ambiguous. If it reports a clash, ask the user which product they mean and resend the search with their words in `user_words` and the `routing_token`. If the user's wording already names Test Management (a `PR-`/`TC-`/`TR-` id, "test case", "test plan"), pass those words as `user_words` straight away. + +## Step 1: Scope to a project + +Every workflow is scoped to a project identifier of the form `PR-xxxxx`. If the user has not given one, search `list projects` and show names with ids; do not pick for them. Keep the identifier for the rest of the conversation. + +## Step 2: Find the capability + +`searchCapability` with `product: "tm"` and the user's goal in their own words, for example "create a test case in a folder", "add results to a run", "list test plans". Read `mode` on each result: `read` runs immediately, `write` needs the confirmation above. If the response says `weak_match`, use the `suggested_vocabulary` it returns and search again with the product's term; do not invoke an unconfirmed match. + +The reference file `references/workflows.md` lists all 103 product workflows grouped by entity, with the capability names behind each. Use it to turn a user request into the product's own words before searching, and to recognise when a request spans several workflows. + +Named tools exist for the common path and skip the registry: `createProjectOrFolder`, `createTestCase`, `updateTestCase`, `listTestCases`, `listFolders`, `listTestCaseTemplates`, `createTestRun`, `listTestRuns`, `updateTestRun`, `addTestResult`, `listTestPlans`, `getTestPlan`, `listSubTestPlans`, `getSubTestPlan`. Prefer them when they match exactly. + +## Step 3: Describe, then invoke + +`describeCapability` with the chosen `name`. It lists path, query and body parameters with types and required flags. Build the call from that, not from memory. Then `invokeCapability` with `name`, `product: "tm"`, and the arguments under the spec's own names. When `completed` is false there is another page; fetch it with the capability's page parameter only if the user needs it. + +## Common workflows, in product words + +| User wants | Search phrase | Writes? | +|---|---|---| +| Set up a project with folders | "create a project", then "create a folder" | yes | +| Add a manual test case with steps | "create a test case" (needs folder id, title, steps, expected results) | yes | +| Find cases by tag, owner or folder | "find test cases" | no | +| Generate cases from a PRD | "generate test cases from a requirements document" (hosted server cannot read local files; the user uploads through the local server or the UI) | yes | +| Open a run for a set of cases | "create a test run" | yes | +| Record pass/fail | "add test results to a run" | yes | +| Close or reassign a run | "update a test run" | yes | +| Group runs for a release | "create a test plan" | yes | +| See what a plan contains | "get a test plan" | no | +| Bulk tag, move or archive | "bulk edit test cases", "bulk move test cases", "bulk archive test cases" | yes | + +## Before any write + +Show the user exactly what will be created or changed: project, folder, title, steps, run name, case list. For one failed test's cause, `automate` or `app-automate` is faster. + +**Governing rule: resolve the project, then the build, then drill in. Two listing capabilities quietly subscribe the user to project notifications; avoid them (see below). + +## Step 0: Product routing + +Call `listProducts` with the user's request once per task. "Build run", "unique error", "quality gate" and "flaky" belong to Test Reporting only and route without a question. "Project", "report" and "dashboard" clash with Test Management; when the registry reports a clash, ask and resend with the user's words in `user_words` and the `routing_token`. + +## Step 1: Resolve the project + +- Named project: search "resolve a project by name", which points at `list_projects_lite_paginated` with `search`. It returns the numeric `id` (for integer-id capabilities) and `normalisedName` (for name-path capabilities). Keep both. +- No project named: `get_default_project` returns the group's most recently active project. Say which one you picked. +- Do not page through `list_projects`; pages are tiny and unfiltered. + +## Step 2: Resolve the build + +- Named build: search "list builds in a project", use `list_project_builds_by_project_id` with the numeric id and `unique_build_names`. Rows carry `build_id` (the Test Reporting id), status counts, `build_number` and an `observability_url`. Default window is the last 7 days; pass `date_range` in epoch milliseconds for older builds. +- "Latest build": the same capability with no filter, newest at the end of the page. +- Avoid `list_recent_runs` and `list_project_builds_by_name`: both subscribe the user to the project's email notifications as a side effect. + +Named tools cover the common path without the registry: `getBuildId` (current user's builds), `listBuildId` (all users), `listTestIds` (tests in a build by status), `fetchBuildInsights` (counts, failure categories, smart tags, quality gate, dashboard link). + +## Step 3: Drill in + +| User wants | Search phrase | Returns | +|---|---|---| +| What changed between two runs | "compare two build runs" | newly failed, fixed, unchanged | +| Why the build is unstable | "read build run statistics" | stability, flaky, always-failing, new-failure, muted counts | +| The distinct errors behind the failures | "list unique errors", then "get unique error details" | error clusters with impacted tests and trend | +| Tests that look alike | "find similar errors" | runs sharing an error signature | +| One test's history | "get test details" | steps, platform, retries, earlier runs | +| Why the gate failed | "quality gate result for a build" | profile and rule verdicts | +| Trends over weeks | "testing trends" | flakiness, stability, performance cards | +| Self-healed locators across a build | "self-healing report" | healed pairs and review verdicts | + +The reference file `references/workflows.md` lists all 58 product workflows by entity with the capability names behind each. Use it to put the user's request into the product's words before searching. + +## Read the flags before you explain + +`listTestIds` with `includeFailureDetail: true` and `fetchBuildInsights` return `is_flaky`, `is_always_failing`, `is_new_failure` and failure categories. Lead with them: a new failure after a passing history is a regression; an always-failing test is tech debt; a flaky one needs stabilising, not debugging. Then drill in only where the flags point. + +## Validated behaviour + +- `get_default_project` returned the account's most recent project with `id` and `normalisedName`. +- `list_project_builds_by_project_id` returned ten builds with `build_id`, status counts, build numbers and observability links, oldest first within the page, with a cursor. +- `list_projects_lite_paginated` with `search` returned matching projects newest-activity first, 100 per page. +- `describeCapability` on `list_recent_runs` reported the subscription side effect; it was not invoked. +- The named tools `listBuildId`, `listTestIds` and `fetchBuildInsights` resolved the same builds without the registry. + +## Result card + +- **Build**: name, number, status, pass/fail counts +- **Finding**: one sentence, for example "3 of 5 failures share one unique error introduced in build 459" +- **Evidence**: the flag, count or error signature that supports it +- **Link**: the observability URL +- **Next**: at most two, for example "debug the top error" or "compare with the last green build" + +## Never + +- Never invoke `list_recent_runs` or `list_project_builds_by_name`; they change the user's subscriptions. +- Never page through every build or every test; filter by name, status or date. +- Never present a flaky test as a regression. +- Never paste a capability's raw JSON; summarise and link. diff --git a/integrations/kiro-power/skills/test-reporting-analytics/references/workflows.md b/integrations/kiro-power/skills/test-reporting-analytics/references/workflows.md new file mode 100644 index 00000000..613cfc9b --- /dev/null +++ b/integrations/kiro-power/skills/test-reporting-analytics/references/workflows.md @@ -0,0 +1,152 @@ +# Test Reporting & Analytics: workflow to capability reference + +Source: the BrowserStack docs page [Test Reporting & Analytics with the MCP server](https://www.browserstack.com/docs/browserstack-mcp-server/tools/test-reporting-analytics).
